Astrology has already existed way back hundreds and thousands of years ago. In the western countries, astrology already had roots. Even 4000 years before Christ, Egyptians already knew about it as they prepared the Ephemeris. The Chinese people also studied astrology around the same time. A planetarium was built in 2608 BC by King Hoyangutee. The Babylonians also practiced it.

The following people also had their contributions to the knowledge of astrology.

1. Pythagoras proposed that the Earth rotated on its own axis.
2. Aristarchus claimed the earth revolved around the sun.
3. An index of positions of various stars was prepared by Aristilan and Timoris.
4. The Sinatyxis, a book about astrology and astronomy that is highly regarded, was written by Ptolemy.

As Cambridge University was founded in 1209 AD, it started teaching astrology in 1250. It was Copernicus who developed the Helio-centric theory and Nostradamus was made famous for his predictions. These prove that astrology has been and will always be practiced by numerous people wherever they are in the world.

Western astrology was very open to the developments that resulted from astronomical observations. And so, Uranus was discovered in 1781 by Dr. William Hershel. The Opposition is 180 degrees and the effects are the same as above. Sextile has 60 degrees and it produces beneficial results for the native. Square is an evil aspect as it has 90 degrees. The good aspect is the trine with its 120 degrees.

The minor aspects include the semi sextile with 30 degrees and is slightly beneficial; semi square with 45 degrees and is slightly bad; sesquiquadrate with 135 degrees and is slightly bad as well; and the quincunx with 150 degrees and is slightly evil.

Another invention of the western astrologers is the progressed horoscope. According to this, when a person is born on a particular date, his first year will be affected by that days planetary positions. Consequently, any year of a person can be calculated and his destiny will be predicted for that year.

Predictions can be done through the Natal Chart, the Progressed Chart, and the Transit Chart.
