Article by Karen Davis

Feng Shui believes that the proper placement of items and specific areas in your home will harmonize energies and allow you to reach your dreams. Fame, success, wealth: these are the aspirations of so many people in the world. A lot work doubly hard to achieve their goals. While others, do virtually anything to attain them. However, wealth can mean so many things to so many people. Often associated with money, in feng shui, however, wealth, can also mean different things.

To practitioners, a prosperous life means a life that is healthy, peaceful, and successful in relationships. When you have such a life, then you have the means to attract success and, yes, even, financial stability. This is done through hard work supported by feng shui.

Feng shui recommends many ways through which you can attract the positive energies that bring wealth. Some may sound common sense, and they are, but there is a wisdom behind them that may just be your key to an abundant life.

First of all, ensuring that your home or office is clean, organized and free of clutter promotes good ch'i. Energy flows smoothly through a clean house. Clutter obstructs energy. Instinctively, we do feel uncomfortable when are homes are a mess. Stuff on the floor, dirty plates in the sink: somehow, we realize that all these things need to be attended to. Having a place for everything and putting everything in their place does not only attract positive energies, it also makes us feel good about ourselves and our homes.

Since water is a symbol of wealth in feng shui, bringing in a tabletop, even hanging paintings of ocean or lake scenes can add the water element into your home to attract wealth. The Chinese are very fond of fish ponds and aquarium for this reason. Growing gold fish or koi enhances the positive energies because they symbolize life. However, it is not advisable to place an aquarium in bedrooms, bathrooms and the kitchen.

Avoid stagnant water to collect in old pails or containers after rain or ! cleaning . Stagnant and dirty water attracts negative energies. Pictures of turbulent waters are also not recommended.

Displaying feng shui good luck symbols in your home also attracts positive energies, so will having plants all around the house.

Scented candles containing pure essential oils are a big help in clearing and energizing your environment. This way, the flow of ch'i will be enhanced and strengthened.

You may have encountered recommendations on putting together a feng shui wealth corner. Having a wealth corner is another powerful way of attracting prosperity into your home.

According to feng shui design principles, the wealth and prosperty area is in the South East corner of your home. In the bagua map, it is in the rear left section of your home or business.

Enhancing this are will draw in financial stability as well as wealth in relationships, health, time with loved ones, and other areas in your life that you want to have "more of."

First, determine where the South East are of your home or business is. Now, if your home or office is already built, there may already be a room in that corner. Don't worry - there are many things you can still do to place your wealth corner at its appropriate spot.

You can build on your wealth corner by having a purple, red or green motif in terms of color schemes.

If the southeast corner is in your living room, a healthy green plant or a lush silk plant will activate the ch'i in the area. You can have also have a side table displaying Chinese coins, crystals or a fortune cat in that area.

If your wealth corner happens to fall in your bathroom, instead of placing plants or water, a few strategically placed mirrors will work wonders! Make sure that the mirrors are hung in such a way that you see yourself the moment you enter the door. Also, keep the door closed and the toilet seat down when not being used.

You can jazz up a wealth corner that happens to be in your bedroom by placing some red items! - a red picture or candle will do nicely.

Place a bowl full of fruit in your kitchen if the south east corner happens to be there. Displaying clear, glass containers or rice, sugar, cookies or other foods also symbolize abundance.

There are certain incidences where a family's south east corner happened to be in the garage. Simply keeping the garage clean and clutter free is great for attracting positive energy. Moreover, common sense dictates that a garage is just that, a place to park your car. If your wealth corner is here, avoid using it as a repository for junk. You can also try placing plants in the garage to amp the wealth energy.

Does the south east direction on your compass point to your front door? The same advise above applies. Plants, water features and lucky objects displayed near your front door will promote the flow of positive energy into your home. For that unique touch, you can try painting the door an auspicious color depending on the direction it faces. A door facing south east can be painted purple or green for luck; for doors facing south, red is ideal; and, don't be surprised but a door facing north will benefit from being painted black!

In feng shui, your front door is vital to attracting luck. Keeping it well lit, unobstructed, and attractive makes it inviting for us, for guests and for wealth to come in. Another thing is that your front door also represents your career. Imagine what you want your career to be. Don't you want it to be successful, fulfilling and filled with many opportunities? Then your door should symbolize the same - a wide, tall and inviting door is great for this purpose!

The final tip in putting together your wealth corner is this: have fun and don't worry about it too much! The important thing is that you are comfortable in your own home. This is what will ultimately attract prosperity, happiness and peace.
