Goa, a tiny state located along the southwestern coastline of India is one of the most sought after travel and tourism destinations. This tourists' paradise is a perfect blend of lip smacking cuisine, easy going people, rocking parties and ancient religious places. Its exotic beaches are among the main attractions that invite millions of visitors to Goa every year. The major beaches of Goa are Anjuna Beach, Baga, Calangute, Arambol and Palolem Beach.

Anjuna Beach: It is one of the most popular beaches of Goa and is located at a distance of around 8 kilometers to the west of Mapusa. It is famous for its trance parties that are organised almost everyday. The sea at this beach is always calm which makes it ideal for swimming. The tourists are also amused by trying adventure sports, shopping at the Anjuna flea market and eating out local cuisines.

Baga Beach: The Baga Beach is also located in the west of Mapusa. The scenic beauty, atmosphere and location of Baga Beach make it a favourite among beach lovers. It is very popular with foreign tourists who come here for water sports and fishing.

Baga's nightlife is wonderful with live bands performing at most restaurants. The light of lamps under the night sky make the saturday night market lively. The stalls in the market area have all kinds of bric-a-brac, trinkets, clothes, exotic delicacies and Goan Cuisine. Wood carving, palmistry, tarot reading and funky haircuts are also done here.

Calangute Beach: It is one of the most popular beaches in Goa, with a host of facilities to cater to visitors. Under the shade of palm trees, the shacks and stalls sell everything from fried prawns to trinkets made of seashells. Its rainbow hued canvas has always welcomed everyone. Calangute's nightlife is surprisingly tame and provides a nice break from the busy city life.

Arambol: It is a beautiful crescent shaped stretch of sand in the north of Goa. It has become popular with backpackers, long term travellers and has managed to remain tr! ue to it s hippie roots.

December and January are considered very peak months of tourist season here. During these months makeshift bars mushroom all over the beach area. The hippies drumming in the moonlight and the flames from fire jugglers thrills most of the nightlife. Accommodation is cheap and almost all kinds of cuisines are available here.

Palolem: It is the southernmost beach in Goa. It is called beach paradise by many travellers. The main drag of this beach is lined with western style bars and restaurants. Many makeshift beach huts pop up over the sand during the peak season. It is a good place to enjoy for a couple of days.
