Use of Therapeutic and Divinatory Tarot in Society

Article by Jackson Swift

Nowadays, tarots have gained more fame. With the dawn of a more advanced internet era, more people have become more interested in online tarot reading which has brought about another evolution of the tarot's usage.

A tarot's use nowadays has seen a radical change as it deems to be approached in two paths of use. To fully understand these approaches and their importance to human society, let us first recall the history of the tarots.

The Tarot thru History

Originally, a tarot was used for the purpose of playing games. Later on by the 18th and 19th centuries, a tarot card had become linked with mysticism and magic and was recognized to be adopted by mystics, occultists and secret societies. In fact, history revealed that the earliest known use of tarot cards for divination happened around 1750 in Bologna Italy, which used a set of divinatory meanings entirely different from modern divinatory tarot.

By the late 18th century, tarot was used as a form of divination which has gained more popularity in the New World till the present times as it has also been found useful by occultists and psychics, popularly known as cartomancers or tarot card readers, in their efforts at divination or as a map of mental and spiritual pathways. Two Approaches to Tarot Use and their Importance

Nowadays, there are two approaches in the use of a tarot: the divinatory or futurological and therapeutically, as it is currently deemed to be a powerful therapeutic and divination tool to shed light on opportunities for growth and transformation in all aspects of your life.

The differences:

Divinatory Tarot

Tarot used as a form of divination tool (divinatory tarot) is what most people are more familiar with than with any other kind of tarot uses.

As a divination tool, tarot reading is considered to foretell the future. These days, Tarot reading revolves around the belief that the tarots can be used to gain insight into the current and possible future situations of the querent ! or the " one who seeks" or seekers.

As insights is gained with the use of the tarot in divination, individuals as part of human society can thereby gain intuitive guidance and peace of mind as they gain answers to questions on relationships, career and prosperity, life transitions, creative expression, dream interpretation, healing and more.

Divinatory tarots also represent the "royal road" to wisdom as they provide the seekers intuitive guidance which then ultimately gives wisdom.

Therapeutic Tarot

Working with tarot as a therapeutic tool (therapeutic tarot) is somewhat a novel outlook ---though it springs from the last couple of centuries' concept of a tarot's use as a map of mental and spiritual pathways --- as it ventures to undertake human/physical transformation.

As a therapeutic tool, tarot card reading acts towards revealing and clearing up psycho-emotional blocks, fears, and behavioral patterns which has hamper the individuals' complete self-awareness, as well as offering precise guidance in resolving these aspects of the mind. As a resolution of the mind is achieved with the use of a therapeutic tarot, an individual's healthy physical and mental well-being could likewise be achieved.

Both uses of the tarots seem to have equal importance as both tarot use helps in keeping a person's well-being.

Whatever you believe and if you believe with regards to a tarot's importance to human society, it is up to you. Remember, we are given freewill to help us decide on what to do with our future and with our self.
